Nvidia-Backed Lila Sciences Raises $115M to Build AI-Driven Scientific Superintelligence
Lila Sciences, a 2023 startup, has secured $115 million in fresh funding—with participation from Nvidia's venture arm—to advance its vision of 'scientific superintelligence.' The Series A round now totals $350 million, pushing total funding to $550 million and valuing the company above $1.3 billion. Investor appetite for AI-powered scientific breakthroughs remains robust.
The startup aims to accelerate discovery by integrating custom AI models with fully automated labs, dubbed 'AI Science Factories.' These facilities leverage robotic tools controlled by AI to conduct experiments nonstop. A recent 235,500-square-foot lease in Cambridge, Massachusetts, marks one of the region's largest lab deals this year.
Lila plans to offer its platform to external firms via enterprise software, with reported interest from energy, semiconductor, and pharmaceutical sectors. Unlike conventional AI labs reliant on manual processes, its approach emphasizes end-to-end automation.
